Is cursing a sin?

Is cursing a sin? Is cussing a sin? Is cussing basically the same thing as cursing? Because there are some who believe that because the actual phrase, "Thou shalt Not Cuss," is not found in scripture, this gives them liberty to cuss at will. I might be the only one posting here, but I'll give it a try still...What do u think?

I don't know if it's a sin. It sure influences our minds though. I mean don't believe you gonna be saying the F* word at each sentence and that it won't have no consequences on you. it's just like everything, if youlie...a lil bit, every day, you might think oh it's ok , it's not that bad...but soon, you'll be lying withouth knowing it yourself. It's a habit, and like any habit it can def. become a bad one.
So Thou shall at least not curse too much zyé dou

urse words are supposedly cursed? Depends on what you believe. The word 'cuss' is a slurred version of the word 'curse', I'm guessing, probably from uneducated southern U.S. roots.

The biblical "taking the lord's name in vain" is supposedly associated with 'cursing' or 'losing your religion', saying "Goddamnit!", etc.
To actually use the name of God for vanity would be to assume Godlike entitlement by judging people. For instance, tell someone they are going to hell or a sinner - you are using the Lord's name for your own vanity.
You can do it with a flyer, a bumpersticker, a prayer. As long as your heart is in the wrong place.
This haughtiness of heart, according to biblical stories, is what got Satan kicked out of heaven.
I seriously doubt just words and phrases could do harm with out the intentions and perceptions that give them power.

A word is just a word.
If "sh*t" is obscene, why not "feces"?
If "f**k" is obscene, why not "copulate"?
If "pussy" is obscene, why not "vagina"?
If "cock" is obscene, why not "penis"?
The definitions are the same.

Focusing on word choice does nothing to improve the soul. All aesthetics and no substance. Cursing will not get you brownie points with your grandparents or in job interviews, but are nothing to be feared or attacked. There are much bigger problems to contend with in the world, in my opinion.

the first amendment says "Congress shall make no law [...] abridging the freedom of speech.."
But obsenity language that can create violence, or disturb the peace can be punished by law...
I think cursing is a sin in the way taht it is so ugly to see people insult other with words which don't make sense..let's take "motherfucker".. why it always has to do with the woman? why did the mother did to you? why the worst insult have to be about women??? Bitch...ho....mother this and that... well it is getting old...
I think we should start a new language for curses!! that would be better.
